JRCI's 6-Step 'Good-Decision-Making' Process

Step 1: Identify the desired Goal.

One of the most effective decision-making strategies is to keep an eye on your Goal.

 Step 2: Gather associated information necessary for identifying possible Options.

It is essential to identify and explore all available options for success. During this process, be sure to engage all the minds on the team.

 Step 3: Consider the Consequences of all available options identified.

There are always consequences to any decision or course of action chosen. Some are good, some bad, and others just plain stink. But the question is, โ€œWhat is the best decision, and what are the consequences?โ€ To write the consequences out and clearly understand them is where most fail.

Step 4: Make the best Decision possible for the desired outcome.

Now that you have completed the above 3 steps, you are far more aware of the Goal, the desired outcome, the date of completion, the consequences of the desired outcome, and your options.

Step 5: Evaluate the Decision made and create an Action Plan.

Now the Decision has been made, evaluate the Decision and create your intentional action plan for success. Bring in all the players, write out the process, and identify the key team members for success.

Step 6: Take massive action with Purpose, Priority, Pride, and Passion.

Sometimes we execute with a timid approach because we are unsure of our decisions. Frankly, this is weak leadership behavior. If you have done your diligence as spelled out above, you and the team should be confident in the Decision, the process, and the expected outcome.

 Now you have developed a system to address your Decision and your team's decision-making process. If you choose to follow your system, your success will soar. If you continue or allow your team to wing the decision-making process, your overall decisions will not be as strong. That is for sure. While processing your decisions will take a bit more effort, you will be better for the effort.
