Talent is defined as a natural effortless aptitude. Sometimes we can overlook the impact of said talent if not careful. To me, that would be a waste and a lost opportunity for all stakeholders. This lost and wasted opportunity is often driven by the lack of personal talent inventory development. To me, systems drive the eighty percent, and we manage the twenty percent. Talent is no different. This requires upfront work to develop the system. Once developed we manage the rest. That is much easier than running around identifying and filling gaps as they develop in real-time. I have noticed leaders with talent also have good habits. No surprises there. Discipline is your friend here. Often good habits are not in alignment with natural talent. I would go as far as to say these good habits are often learned skills. But that is for another discussion. |
Take Time and Inventory Your Talent If you take the time to identify your unique genetic and God-given talent, you will be far more advanced than most. Many individuals bumble through this precious life accepting what comes their way rather than leaning into their unique talent pool to create impact. They lack a personal Mission, Vision, and Values statement to frame how to properly apply their talent. Seems to be a waste to me. To deploy impact there must then be a requirement for a framework to apply talent. This framework is a system. Let systems do the heavy lifting for you. Start with a Personal Mission Statement “It is very difficult to align your talent with an organizational mission statement if you have no idea why you are on the planet and what you intend to do.” Jeffrey A. Rogers, CPMBC Clarity is what drives you and your gifts to share with others is a great place to start. Check out a simple system I use to support my clients in finding their unique talents. Understanding and accepting the gift of these talents is the first step. Next is where the fun begins…engaging others and providing impact with your talent as a leader. |
