Crafting a Strategic Vision for Business Success
Without Vision, I believe humans are left blowing aimlessly in the wind—rudderless in turbulent water. That being said, a company’s strategic vision describes what? Let's frame it up a bit together.

Without Vision, I believe humans are left blowing aimlessly in the wind—rudderless in turbulent water. That being said, a company’s strategic vision describes what? Let's frame it up a bit together.
Every great leader starts by defining the Culture of their team and organization. The Culture is determined by thinking about the organization's Mission, Vision, and values as well as why it does what it does. Sometimes, even more importantly, how it does what it does and by what rules it behaves!
Every leader must make time to do this! These behaviors determine team engagement.
Recently I had a conversation with a client that made me stop and think about my own performance and attitude. Our conversation centered on why some people seem so much more successful than others do. More importantly, why are some more successful than others? After all, we all have 24 hour, 7 day weeks right?
It became clear to me very quickly, some did what others were simply unable or unwilling to do! More over, the ones who were held accountable – grew by leaps and bounds. Why you ask… because they were coached and held to a higher standard! They were able to set goals and maximize their output without getting burnt out.
What we discussed was a few simple character traits that seemed to contribute to their overall success:
Self-awareness is required in Leadership. Reputation is a prerequisite to effective Leadership. Reputation is everyone's responsibility!
It is the leader's job to ensure that Reputation is managed effectively! But make no mistakes, it is everyone's job to maintain and elevate organizational Reputation. Trust, performance, and engagement are critical for a strong Organizational Reputation.
Reputation is a long-term word. One must have a vision of what one desires to be known for and work towards it in the good, bad, and in between times. There will be bumps, bruises, and damaged egos along the journey. Reputation is built by a demonstrated long-term body of work, personally, professionally, and organizationally!
Rally your team and achieve success as never before! This is your year.
If you are anything like me, there is just not enough time in the day to get it all done. I have determined the reason for this struggle to be FOCUS. In our efforts to get it all done, we simply don’t get any of it done or worse yet done right. Do you ever feel that way? Believe it or not, your team feels that way as well. Whether they communicate that fact or not, they too are distracted and overwhelmed at times.
Where are you going? Do you know, does your team know? Do your customers know? Without Vision, everyone blows aimlessly in the wind—rudderless in turbulent water. To me, it starts with personal Vision.
As an executive leader, your personal vision statement must align with the corporate organizational vision statement at the personal level.
Without alignment, how can an executive drive organizational vision? If the personal Vision is not in alignment from the start, how can there be success? The dilemma is that most corporate executives and small business owners do not have a clearly defined personal vision, let alone a written vision Statement – I think you know where we are going by now!
